Benefit Fundraiser in Support of 911 Health Watch Inc.

23rd Anniversary Commemoration Benefit fundraiser to support 911 Health Watch Inc., Monday, September 30, 2024, 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel Lenox Ballroom, 811 7th Ave, 53rd Street New York, NY 10019.

911 Health Watch monitors the implementation of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. Our organization makes sure that injured and ill 9/11 responders and survivors are properly cared for during their lifetime, but we can only succeed in that mission with your support.

Our honorees this year have gone above and beyond to advocate for 911 responders and survivors.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand

Over the years, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has been instrumental in fighting for injured and ill 9/11 responders and survivors. Her efforts were crucial in obtaining passage of the James Zadroga 911 Health and Compensation Act in 2010, the reauthorization of the World Trade Center Health Program in 2015, the reauthorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund in 2019, and her recent efforts to fully fund the World Trade Center Health Program. Throughout her tenure, Senator Gillibrand makes sure our heroes and survivors get the care they need.

Thomas Hart

Thomas Hart currently holds the position of President for IUOE Local 94, and has been a member since June of 1986. Tom has worked tirelessly since the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11. He not only worked on the pile, but also coordinated efforts with the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. He served as the Chairman of the Workers Advisory Committee for Mt. Sinai. During his efforts for the responders to 9/11, he lobbied numerous times in Washington, DC to help fight for their rights to proper health care. He currently serves on the board of Citizens for the Extension of the James Zadroga Act Inc. Today, Tom remains committed to ensuring that his members and the responders of 9/11 are not forgotten.

Dr. Robin Herbert

After the attacks on the World Trade Center, Dr. Herbert and her colleagues at Mount Sinai Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health responded immediately to concerns about potential health effects from the toxins at Ground Zero. She co-led efforts to identify health problems and risks for WTC responders, working to obtain funding for the Worker and Volunteer Screening Program, which began in July 2002. She then helped to establish and direct the philanthropically funded Health Effects Treatment Program to provide care for responders with physical or mental health problems beginning in 2003. In 2006, when the WTC Health Program began to cover both medical monitoring and treatment, she continued her leadership role in the federally funded Medical Monitoring Program for General Responders until 2009. These programs ultimately became the current Health Program.
