The James Zadroga, 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, which was signed into law in 2011, provided for Shanksville and Pentagon responders to be covered under the Health Program but the program had not provided eligibility rules until today. Today’s rule outlined the geographic boundaries of the incident sites and how long rescuers needed to be at the sites to be covered. The program estimates that about 540 to 1,467 new responders are expected to enroll, starting May 1, at a cost of as much as $3.2 million a year.

For more information on how to enroll if you are responder, please go to the WTC Health Program Website.
